Check your analytics and you will almost certainly find that eighty to ninety per cent of your traffic is on a phone. Yet most business websites are still designed on a large desktop monitor and then squeezed down until nothing overlaps. That is responsive design in the narrowest sense — and it is not the same as mobile-first.

Design for the thumb, not the cursor

A phone held in one hand has a comfortable reach zone in the lower two-thirds of the screen. Anything critical placed in the top corners requires a grip change. Primary actions — call, WhatsApp, enquire — belong where the thumb already is, which is why sticky bottom action bars outperform header buttons on mobile so consistently.

Tap targets and spacing

Buttons need to be at least 44 by 44 pixels with real space around them. Menu items packed four to a row generate mis-taps, and a mis-tap on a phone often means a lost visitor rather than a corrected click.

Typography that does not need zooming

Sixteen pixels minimum for body text, generous line height, and short paragraphs. If a visitor has to pinch to read your service description, they will leave before deciding whether they wanted it.

Forms built for phones

Use the correct input types so the numeric keypad appears for phone numbers. Autofill address and pincode. Ask for the minimum. A five-field form on mobile converts several times better than a twelve-field one — and most of those twelve fields were never read by anyone in your office anyway.

Speed is a design decision

A hero video, a slider and three web fonts are design choices with a performance cost. On a mid-range Android phone on 4G in Warangal or Nizamabad, that cost is measured in seconds and paid in lost enquiries. Choose one strong hero image, compress it properly, and move on.

One-tap everything

Phone numbers as tel: links. Addresses that open Maps. A WhatsApp button that opens a chat with a pre-filled message naming the page they were on. Every tap you remove between interest and contact raises your enquiry count.

Test on a real phone

Not a browser emulator on a fast connection. Borrow a mid-range Android handset, throttle the network, and try to make an enquiry as a customer would. Almost every mobile problem worth fixing is obvious within two minutes of doing this.
