The most expensive mistake in web design is not a bad-looking site. It is a beautiful new site that quietly destroys traffic the old one had spent years earning. We have been called in to repair that more than once, and it is always avoidable.

Before you start

  1. Export your current rankings and top pages. You cannot tell whether a redesign helped if you never recorded where you began.
  2. List every URL on the existing site. Crawl it properly rather than trusting the menu.
  3. Identify your top twenty pages by traffic and conversions. These are the ones you must not break.
  4. Record your current Core Web Vitals. A prettier site that is slower is a downgrade.
  5. Write down what is actually wrong. 'It looks old' is not a brief. 'It gets visits but no calls' is.

During the build

  1. Keep the URL structure wherever you sensibly can. Changing URLs for cosmetic reasons is pure risk.
  2. Map 301 redirects for every URL that must change. One-to-one, to the closest equivalent page — never all to the homepage.
  3. Carry over your page titles and meta descriptions for pages that already rank, then improve them deliberately rather than by accident.
  4. Preserve your content. Trimming 1,500 words of ranking text down to a stylish 200 is the fastest way to lose position.
  5. Design mobile first. Most of your visitors in Hyderabad and across Telangana will only ever see the phone version.
  6. Keep heading hierarchy clean. One H1, logical H2s, no headings used purely for styling.
  7. Re-implement your schema markup. LocalBusiness, Service, FAQ and Breadcrumb data almost always get dropped in redesigns.
  8. Compress every image and set explicit dimensions to avoid layout shift.
  9. Put contact actions everywhere — sticky call and WhatsApp buttons on mobile, a short form on every service page.

Before you go live

  1. Check that staging is not indexable and that the live site is. A stray noindex tag left in place is a classic, catastrophic slip.
  2. Test every form end to end and confirm the enquiry actually arrives in the inbox and on WhatsApp.
  3. Verify tracking — analytics, conversion goals and Search Console — before launch day, not a fortnight after.

After launch

Submit the new sitemap, watch Search Console for crawl errors daily for two weeks, and expect a short dip before recovery. If rankings have not returned within about a month, something in the redirect map is wrong — check it rather than waiting it out.
