Google Ads pricing has two parts people routinely confuse: what you pay Google, and what you pay whoever manages it. Getting the second one wrong is how small budgets disappear.

Management fee models

Percentage of ad spend (10–20%)

The most common model. It is transparent and scales with your account, but it quietly rewards your agency for spending more of your money. Workable with a competent partner; risky without one.

Flat monthly retainer (₹8,000–₹30,000)

Usually the better deal for small and mid budgets, because the incentive is detached from spend. Expect the lower end for a single-service local campaign and the upper end for multi-city, multi-service accounts.

Performance or per-lead pricing

Attractive on paper. In practice it pushes the agency towards cheap, low-quality leads unless 'qualified lead' is defined tightly in writing. Define it, or avoid the model.

The minimum ad budget that actually works

Below roughly ₹15,000 a month, most local campaigns cannot gather enough conversions to leave Google's learning phase, and you end up drawing conclusions from noise. For competitive categories in Hyderabad, Bengaluru or Mumbai, plan on ₹25,000 to ₹50,000 monthly for a fair test. In smaller markets like Warangal or Nizamabad, meaningful results are possible at considerably less, because clicks cost a fraction of metro prices.

What competent management includes

  • Conversion tracking configured for real enquiries — form submissions, calls over 60 seconds, WhatsApp clicks
  • A dedicated landing page per major service and city, not the homepage
  • Negative keyword lists maintained weekly, especially early on
  • Search term reviews, not just keyword reports
  • Ad copy and asset testing, with enough creative for Performance Max to work
  • Monthly reporting on cost per qualified enquiry — the only number that matters

The landing page is part of the price

Quality Score means a relevant, fast landing page lowers your cost per click, often by a third or more. Paying ₹15,000 once for a proper landing page frequently saves more than that within a quarter. Agencies that run ads straight to your homepage are costing you money they never invoice for.

Red flags

No access to your own Google Ads account. Reporting that shows clicks and impressions but never leads. A refusal to say what the management fee is as a separate number. And any promise of a guaranteed cost per lead before they have seen your conversion data.
